Device to Track a Vehicle in Australia: What to Buy

A vehicle tracking system combines a device, mobile connectivity and an account where you can view recorded locations. Choosing the right setup starts with your vehicle, where it travels and how you want to install the tracker.
This guide explains what to check before ordering and what to expect when your device arrives.
Choose how the tracker will be fitted
Plug-in tracking for a compatible vehicle
The EZY01 OBD plug-in tracker connects to a compatible OBD-II diagnostic port. It suits owners who want a removable setup without arranging a hardwired installation.
Check your vehicle’s make, model and year, the port’s position and clearance around the driver’s legs and controls. A port’s presence alone does not confirm compatibility. Our OBD port finder can help you locate it.
A permanent installation
The EZYH1 hardwired tracker suits a discreet, permanent setup. A suitable installer should confirm compatibility, power requirements and mounting position for your vehicle. Professional fitting is arranged and paid for separately.
The standard tracking setup does not include immobilisation. Discuss any additional requirements with our team before ordering.
When vehicle power is unsuitable
The rechargeable S20-Pro asset tracker is another option when you need tracking without a permanent vehicle-power connection. Confirm mounting, reporting frequency and access for charging with our team. Battery life depends on use and conditions.
Check coverage on the routes you use
Tell us where the vehicle usually travels, including regional routes and places where it is stored. Standard plans use supported Optus/Vodafone coverage; Telstra options are available by quote.
Live updates depend on device power, satellite reception, mobile coverage and configuration. No network provides coverage everywhere, so confirm the proposed setup before relying on it for a particular route.
Decide what you want to review
Start with the information you will use: the latest recorded location, trip history, movement alerts or daily vehicle activity. Ask our team to confirm the available features and settings for your device.
For work vehicles, daily work reports are included in existing EZY GPS vehicle plans at no extra charge. They show recorded vehicle activity; they do not by themselves prove jobs completed or hours worked.
Plans and delivered prices
Standard tracking plans include the tracker, SIM, data, app access and Australian support on supported Optus/Vodafone coverage.

Before you pay
- Confirm the device and quantity.
- Check vehicle compatibility, coverage and installation or charging requirements.
- Choose annual or five-year service and review the checkout total.
- Use an email address you can access and check your delivery address.
After purchase
Your payment is verified before account setup and device preparation. Follow the account-access instructions sent to your email. Device preparation and postage are separate from account creation; an account email does not mean the device has been dispatched.
Once the tracker is installed, activated and recording, check its location and settings in your account. If you need help choosing or getting started, contact the EZY GPS team or call 1300 399 477.
