Installation
How do I install an OBD GPS tracker?
OBD GPS trackers plug directly into the vehicle's OBD diagnostic port. Installation typically takes less than one minute and requires no tools. Once the device is plugged in and the vehicle is started, the tracker will power on automatically and begin transmitting location data.
Where is the OBD port located?
Most vehicles have the OBD port located underneath the dashboard near the steering wheel. Some vehicles place the port near the fuse box or behind a small dashboard panel.
Can a GPS tracker be hidden in a vehicle?
Yes.
Hardwired GPS trackers are installed behind the dashboard and are normally hidden from view once installed.
Will the GPS tracker drain my car battery?
No. GPS trackers use very little power and are designed to operate safely with vehicle electrical systems.
What happens if the tracker is unplugged?
If the tracker is unplugged from the vehicle or loses power, it will continue operating for a short period using its internal backup battery. The backup battery can keep the device active for several hours, allowing the system to continue reporting location during that time. Once the backup battery is depleted, the device will power off.
When the tracker is plugged back in or power is restored, it will automatically reconnect to the network and resume normal tracking.
Do hardwired trackers require professional installation?
Hardwired trackers connect directly to the vehicle electrical system and should ideally be installed by an auto electrician or competent installer.
