Choosing a GPS tracker is easier when you start with the job you need it to do. A removable tracker for a car, a permanent installation for a work van and a rechargeable device for equipment solve different problems.

Use these five steps to choose the device and service together.

1. Start with what you want to track

List the vehicles or assets, where they travel and what you want to know. You might need the latest recorded location, trip history, movement alerts or a daily view of fleet activity.

For several vehicles, include each make, model and year. A mixed fleet may need different installation types even when the devices share an account.

2. Choose the installation and power arrangement

  • EZY01 OBD plug-in: a removable option for a compatible diagnostic port. Check vehicle compatibility and clearance around the port.
  • EZYH1 hardwired: a discreet permanent setup connected to vehicle power. Professional fitting is arranged and paid for separately.
  • S20-Pro rechargeable: an option for assets where a permanent power connection is unsuitable. Confirm mounting, reporting needs and access for charging.

For a trailer or other asset left behind, the tracker needs to stay with that asset. Confirm how it will remain powered or charged while disconnected from the towing vehicle.

The standard tracking setup does not include immobilisation. Discuss any additional requirements before ordering.

3. Match coverage to the places you use

Standard EZY GPS tracking plans use supported Optus/Vodafone coverage. Telstra options require a separate quote.

Tell us about regional routes, work sites, depots and storage locations. A good connection at home does not establish coverage everywhere you travel. The device and service must be compatible with the proposed network.

Updates depend on power, satellite reception, mobile coverage and configuration. No mobile network covers every location.

4. Confirm the information you will use

Ask about the reporting interval, available alerts, trip history and export options for the chosen device and configuration. Check the timestamp of the latest recorded location when reviewing the map.

Daily work reports are included in existing EZY GPS vehicle plans at no extra charge. Once devices are installed, activated and recording, reports can show recorded trips, stops, distance and movement times. Vehicle activity provides context; it does not by itself prove jobs completed or hours worked.

For rechargeable devices, reporting frequency is also part of the charging decision. Battery life varies with use and conditions.

5. Compare the full cost

Check the service term, delivery, installation and any additional equipment before paying. The cheapest initial figure is only useful if you understand what it includes and what comes later.

Plans and delivered prices

Choose A$275 including GST per device for five years, paid once, or A$77 including GST per device per year while subscribed.

Standard plans include the tracker, SIM, data, app access and Australian support on supported Optus/Vodafone coverage. Postage is A$11 per order: one device is A$286 delivered for five years or A$88 initially on annual. Service-only annual renewals are A$77 per device, with no postage. Hardwired installation is arranged and paid for separately. Telstra options require a separate quote.

Before placing your order

  • Confirm the device and quantity.
  • Check compatibility, coverage and installation or charging arrangements.
  • Review the checkout total and the renewal terms of your chosen plan.
  • Check your email and delivery address.

After payment verification, account setup and device preparation follow. Receiving account details does not mean the device has been dispatched. Follow the setup instructions and check normal operation after installation and activation.
